چکیده

The transition from traditional paper libraries to digital libraries enables new strategies for the use and maintenance of artifact collections. Distributed software development can be regarded as a special case of digital library utilization, where developers or groups of developers are working on the same software geographically dispersed in time zones which might differ. We present a hierarchical super peer network which represents the organizational structures of distributed software development in a natural way and is able to integrate distributed resources like version control systems as well as local devices. This approach is then generalized to support the self-organization of widely distributed, loosely coupled, and autonomous digital library systems.

A Hierarchical Super Peer Network for Distributed Software Development

The approach presented in this paper is the construction of a peer-to-peer based network for distributed software development, which maps the structures of open source projects in a natural way. Distributed teams, in particular for open source projects, can be considered as peerto-peer systems themselves. A hierarchical super peer network is being designed to support the formation of new develo...

Three Layer Hierarchical Model for Chord

Increasing popularity of decentralized Peer-to-Peer (P2P) architecture emphasizes on the need to come across an overlay structure that can provide efficient content discovery mechanism, accommodate high churn rate and adapt to failures in the presence of heterogeneity among the peers. Traditional p2p systems incorporate distributed client-server communication, which finds the peer efficiently t...

Designing an information system for Grids: Comparing hierarchical, decentralized P2P and super-peer models

As deployed Grids increase from 10s to 1000s of nodes, the construction of an efficient and scalable information system is a key issue, as it is vital for providing querying and discovery services. Today most Grids adopt a centralized or hierarchical model for their information system, but this model is characterized by poor scalability, resiliency and load-balancing features. Nowadays the rese...

Distributed Proximity-Aware Peer Clustering in BitTorrent-Like Peer-to-Peer Networks

In this paper, we propose a hierarchical architecture for grouping peers into clusters in a large-scale BitTorrent-like underlying overlay network in such a way that clusters are evenly distributed and that the peers within are relatively close together. We achieve this by constructing the CBT (Clustered BitTorrent) system with two novel algorithms: a peer joining algorithm and a super-peer sel...

Super Peer Deployment in Unstructured Peer-to-Peer Networks

Two-layer hierarchy unstructured peer-to-peer (P2P) systems, comprising an upper layer of super-peers and an underlying layer of ordinary peers, are commonly used to improve the performance of large-scale P2P systems. However, the optimal super-peer network design involves several requirements including super-peer degree, network diameter, scalability, load balancing, and flooding performance. ...
